Coats for Kidz 2022 is an inaugural project of local businesses and S.M.A.R.T., Studying Mindful Art Resources Together, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization.
S.M.A.R.T. is the facilitating organization, helping to connect and build community. Founded in 2009, S.M.A.R.T. engages active community builders through arts education, working with students from Briscoe Elementary, a Title 1 school just south of downtown San Antonio. Over 8,000 students have completed S.M.A.R.T. programs. As active community members, S.M.A.R.T.’s leadership is granted the opportunity to see firsthand the needs of students and their families. S.M.A.R.T. looks forward to creating and launching an epic, successful event that is the first of many more annual coat drives to fulfill the needs of our San Antonio children.

Andy Benavides has been a prominent community leader for over 25 years and is a professional artist with regular exhibitions, commissions, and collectors. His most recent initiative is forming Southtown Culture. He has a lifetime commitment to the Arts and community building.
YVETTE BENAVIDES / DIRECTOR
Yvette Benavides has served as Director since S.M.A.R.T. since inception in 2002. Yvette was born in Michigan, migrated to the Pacific Northwest, and eventually landed in San Antonio. She has a rich background and is deeply committed to the Arts.
